Visit the online typing skills test provided by your local Minnesota WorkForce Center.

Instructions and Information

To log in, enter your email address and click Continue.

If you do not have an email address, you may use the following format: firstname@lastname.com.

Before taking the actual typing test you can take a practice test. With the practice test you can get familiar with the test environment as well as warm up for the real test. Practice tests can be taken any number of times. In the practice test your results are not saved or sent to the test administrator. Please note also, that the practice test text is different than in the real test.

Short Test Instructions

  1. The test text is shown in the upper part of the screen. Type it as quickly and accurately as possible until the test time is up.
  2. The text that you type is shown in the lower part of the screen. There you can see if you have made any typing errors.
  3. You can use backspace to correct typing errors in the current word. However, you can't go further back.
  4. Do not press enter after each line - only when paragraph ends.
  5. You may type either one space or two spaces after the periods and it will not count as an error in typing.
  6. You may print the results page when your test is finished. If you've used a valid email address, your results will also be emailed to you. (Remember to check your SPAM folder.)

Solutions for Problems that May Occur

Problem: The text I type doesn't appear on the screen.

Solution: Click on the typing area with the mouse.

In some circumstances the text you type does not appear in the typing area of the test and the time counter doesn't start running. In this case you just need to click on the typing area once with the mouse. This way it gets back the "focus" it has lost and you can start the test.

Problem: The test doesn't appear at all.

Solution: Enable Java support in your web browser. Contact a Resource Area staffperson.

Employer Testing

Contact a Resource Area staffperson if you need to take a test for a certain company or employer.
