The library, located behind the Resource Area Help Desk, contains an extensive collection of books helpful in exploring career options, which you may use in the WorkForce Center.   See our library books.   

The Resource Area's 20 computers have various user-friendly software programs designed to help you explore career options. Among these programs are:

Minnesota Career Information System (MCIS) - a program designed to explore career options and to obtain occupational and training information specific to Minnesota. This program is available on the Resource Area computers or on the internet. .  You must use the username and password below to access this website:   How to use MCIS (.pdf)

ISEEK  - a program providing career exploration, educational programs, and job search information. Of particular interest is the assessment portion "Matching Skills to Careers."   Iseek

Minnesota Careers - (career information written primarily for high school students, but helpful for the general public) exploring careers and finding information about schools & colleges, as well as other useful information. 

Labor Market Information (Minnesota Dept of Employment and Economic Development) - look up wage/salary information in various occupations in Minnesota.  

2008-09 Occupational Outlook Handbook (U.S. Dept of Labor) - describes what workers do on the job, working conditions, the training and education needed, earnings and expected job prospects in different occupations.
