Complete sentences are not necessary
Avoid the use of "I" or "me"
Avoid long stories or explanations
Use key phrases
The resume should draw the reader's attention

Components of a Resume

Name and Contact Information
  - Use your full name - not a nick name
  - Include your phone number with area code
Job Objective
  - The employer wants to see what you are applying for
  - Keep it brief and to the point
  - You can change the objective for other positions
  - Examples
    + Objective: Customer Service position.
    + Objective: Sales clerk or customer service representative for a major department store
    + Objective: Summer employment with a construction crew
    + Objective: Assistant position with a summer youth program
Summary of Skills or Summary of Qualifications
  - The summary section should be three or four bulleted skills or experiences that are most important to the job.
  - Examples
    + Over 2 years experience in the retail industry
    + Outstanding customer service skills
    + Able to build strong working relationships with co-workers
    + Consistently receive excellent ratings on performance evaluations
Skills
  - Choose three or four major skills you have and list specific examples of how you used that skill
  - Examples
    + General Office
      Answered phones and took accurate messages
Located desired information using the internet
Scheduled appointments
    + Customer Service
      Welcomed customers in a friendly and courteous manner
Listened, calmed and assisted customers with their concerns
Provided customers with desired information in a timely manner
Employment History
  - List the most recent employer first
  - List the job title, the name of the company and where the company is located
  - List how long you worked for the company
Education
  - List your high school
  - Include your class or year of graduation
  - List related coursework or training
Other
  - Volunteer experience, memberships, activities, languages, computer skills
