Resource Center: Our WorkForce Center features a Resource Center that can act as your personal office. You can create your resume and cover letters utilizing a computer, look for jobs, research career information, browse the Internet or our library of job search/career information, publications and reference directories. In the Resource Center you will find: 

Job Listings - Access thousands of job listings on our computers at MinnesotaWorks.net and other specialty job banks, along with a variety of other job search related bookmarks. 

Resume Builders - Create and post your resume on MinnesotaWorks.net. Qualified employers and private employment agencies can access your resume through the Internet. They can review your qualifications in relationship to their job openings, and if interested, employers will contact you directly! Microsoft Word and WinWay Resume software programs are available to help you build your resume or write a cover letter.

Career Research - We offer many resources to assist you with career exploration. Within the Resource Center library is an extensive collection of books, Internet sites, videos, postsecondary schools information, and other techniques for you to utilize.

Career exploration resources available include publications detailing career options and exploration including the Department of Labor publications Occupational Outlook Handbook and the Guide for Occupational Exploration; Minnesota Department of Employment and Economic Development publications of Labor Market Information and Minnesota Careers; and numerous individual titles such as What Color is Your Parachute? and CareerXroads. 

 

Internet websites including Minnesota Career Information System (MCIS) and ISEEK are helpful in exploring careers and obtaining occupational and training information relevant to Minnesota. To obtain your username and password for MCIS, please visit our WorkForce Center and create an account on-line. O*NET OnLine offers occupational information to explore, a skills search, and much more.

 

Consumer Report is a report based on performance information, such as job placement, retention and wages, available on Minnesota's post-secondary schools’ training programs. The report helps individuals select a training program and ensuing career that best meet their interests, needs and abilities. Participating in the Consumer Report is a training provider's first step in certifying their programs for federal funds under the Workforce Investment Act (WIA).

 

Business of the Day - This is an excellent opportunity for you to meet face-to-face with an employer in the Resource Center regarding their job openings. Check out our Job Fairs page for a list of employers visiting our WorkForce Center

 

Educational Opportunity Center (EOC) - EOC is a free educational outreach program for eligible adults in the Twin Cities and surrounding areas. Through EOC you can examine career options, choose a college or Vocational School, apply for admission and financial aid, and resolve student loan defaults. Call 763-783-4893 for additional information. 

 

Keyboarding - Learn the keyboard or increase your typing speed with Mavis Beacon Typing Tutorial software program. 

 

Fax machines/Copy machine – Fax or make copies of your resume free of charge.

 

Telephone Center - Job hotlines, employer contact, message phone center.

 

Workshops: We offer a variety of job search and career research workshops. Receive help on reinforcing job search fundamentals, applying job search methods, writing resumes and cover letters, interviewing techniques, plus other workshops designed to help you during times of transition or career change. 

 

Veterans Services: Veterans Services can enable Veterans in Minnesota to achieve economic security by facilitating quality career related service.  For more information call 763-785-6487.

 

Specialized Services: You may be eligible for specialized services offered at the WorkForce Center.

 

Labor Market Information:  Labor Market Information – Economic Highlights. Labor Market Analysts are available to answer your questions over the phone or by email.

Unemployment Benefits:  The Unemployment Insurance (UI) Program provides a short-term, partial wage replacement to workers who have lost their jobs through no fault of their own. These benefits are paid from a dedicated Trust Fund Account which is maintained through assessments against Minnesota employers covered by the UI Program.
