available at the WorkForce Center-Anoka County?
The following services are provided at no cost:
- How to find a job and/or
keep a job
- Information on careers,
schools, and the labor market
- Rehabilitation Services
- State Services for the
Blind
- Financial assistance
program applications for families with children
- Child care assistance
- Business services
- Veteran services
Do I
need to qualify for WorkForce Center services?
No, not at all. Everyone is able to use the services of the Resource Center, many of which are
available on a
walk-in basis during business hours. Some other services may require a
decision
regarding your eligibility in order to receive Specialized
Services.
How do I apply for
Unemployment Benefits?
The Unemployment Insurance (UI) Program provides a short-term, partial
wage
replacement to workers who have lost their jobs through no fault of
their own.
These benefits are paid from a dedicated Trust Fund Account which is
maintained
through assessments against Minnesota employers covered by the
UI
Program.
Individuals can apply for
UI benefits and maintain their UI
account online at www.uimn.org or
by phone.

information on the UI Program can use the

Do only Anoka County residents get to use
your WorkForce Center?
No, residency is not a requirement. During the hours that we are open,
you can
receive assistance with your job search or career planning
activities.
What hours are you
open?
We are currently open from 7:30 a.m. to 6:30 p.m. Monday through Thursday,
and Friday 7:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m.
Can you provide financial
assistance for my career
training?
Career training funds are available for certain programs within the WorkForce Center. A decision regarding
your
eligibility can be conducted to see if you qualify
for those
services. Information regarding financial aid is also available at
the WorkForce Center for you to review to see
if
alternative funding sources can assist you in your career
training.
Can you tell me what
schools offer the training I
want?
Yes, we have brochures, catalogs, and Internet information on most
local
post-secondary schools and many other schools in Minnesota and the United States.
Can I get help filling
out my financial aid forms?
Yes, a financial aid representative from the Educational
Opportunity Center
(EOC)
is available to assist customers with applying for financial aid. It is
recommended that you call first to schedule an appointment to meet with
a
representative at 763-783-4893.
Where can I go to study
English, or prepare for the
citizenship or GED examination?
Here at the Human Service Center, Metro North Learning Lab
provides
customized on-site classes in English as a Second Language, GED and
High School
Diploma, diploma credit through work internships, and remedial reading
and math
are available. Call 763-783-4870 for more information. You can also
visit the US Citizenship
website to prepare for
the US Citizenship examination.
Can I get help in looking
for a job?
Yes, we have a state-of-the-art Resource Center along with qualified
staff to
assist you in your job hunt. Access MinnesotaWorks.net and other
websites to view job postings.
Do you pay for child care?
In some cases yes, child care is available for certain specialized
services if you meet the eligibility requirements.
