If you are 55 or over and want to work to keep up with expenses:  please call.  Even if you haven’t worked for years, or lack a formal education, or think you are unskilled, call us.  The Experience Works Field Assistant in your area will meet with you at a convenient location, determine your eligibility, and explore your possibilities.

Experience Works is a national, nonprofit organization that provides training and employment services for mature workers.

Established in 1965 as Green Thumb, and renamed Experience Works in 2002, the organization reaches more than 125,000 mature individuals in all 50 states and Puerto Rico each year. 

• Career Search:   Over the years you have acquired valuable skills, knowledge and experience that you will bring to any occupational field that interest you.  Your ‘transferable’ skills are the keys to a successful job search.  First, your Experience Works Field Assistant will help you identify and inventory your skills. Next, you will define your favorite fields of interest.  What do you know? What can you do well?  What would you rather not do? What gives you joy?

• Customized Training:  After you have chosen occupations related to your interests and skills, you and your Experience works field assistant will decide if you need more training to be a qualified job candidate.

• Computer Training:   Today’s office computers are far more user-friendly than typewriters, and they are used in nearly every field of work.    Having up-to date skills shows your flexibility and willingness to learn.  We will assess your computer skills and establish a training program that works for you.

• Resume Preparation:   Your resume is a strategic portrayal of your skill, knowledge and experience, as they relate to the job you are seeking.  We will help you create a resume that shows you are qualified candidate with added value.  You have the people “smarts that come only from years of experience.  A resume alone won’t get you a job, but it will help you get that all-important interview.

• Job Hunting:  Successful job-hunting is a learned skill.  We will help you learn how to research organizations, plan effective networking strategies and find the hidden job market.  We will help you practice interviewing skills, and develop and rehearse strong responses that match your skills to the employers’ needs.  We will help you develop closing questions that express your sincerity and enthusiasm.

• Work Schedules for Older Workers: Work Experience will help you find a part-time, fulltime, temporary or seasonal position.
